New Gardeing Book

I've been thinking a lot about spring this past month with our record breaking snow days and cold temps. I found this book on perennials and have been looking at the pictures all week long just dreaming of spring and hoping it will come sooner than later! I can't wait for sunshine and warm days!

Blocks

Yes I'm still here! The last few weeks have been so busy I have not stopped long enough to post any pictures. The garden has required a lot of work as the season winds down. I picked another 100 plus tomato's this past week and still need to put them up for the winter. I've been cutting up peppers as fast as I pick them and freezing them so I should have some good Chili this winter.

And then there is this need to organize and clean that came over me a few weeks ago. It started with the desire to clean out the bathroom closest - which lead to painting the shelves and door of the closet. Then I had to put every thing back - which required a trip to the store to pick up some baskets to organize the make-up and lotions and well you get the picture.

I have also been working on my blocks for the CQ 2012 project. Of the blocks I've pieced I just did not like some of the pieces - the colors were off just slightly so I unstitched them and picked out the pieces I did not like and replaced them. Now they look much better and I'm ready to piece more. This should be a good winter project once all the blocks are pieced I will be able to carry them with me for the finishing work.

That about does it for me. I'm still in the organizing mode and has plans for the next couple of weekends but at least I'll be ready for stitching when I'm finished.

Dreaming of summer!

While checking out my regular blogs this past weekend I couldn't help but be jealous of the gardens and warm weather on the other side of the globe. It's getting me in the mood for gardening season around here. At work the other day someone said spring is right around the corner ... ahhhhhh one can only dream!

2008 Garden - End of the Year

The 2008 garden season is coming to an end. I really let things go this past month as we were not getting any rain and me watering after work and when I got home from my travels just didn't keep up.

I took a few shots of this purple flower (I don't know the name) and what you can't see really well are the number of bees and butterflies hanging out on them! Even though it wasn't my best garden it still has beauty in it. Nature at it's best and worst is still pretty.

How about you? Did you have a good gardening year? Even my tomatoes didn't do as well as usual. I do have enough to put up some frozen tomato sauce that I use in my Chili ... guess you know what I will be doing today!

We finally got some rain yesterday and it really perked up the garden. As a matter of fact some of it looks like a jungle. It's been so hot the past three weeks I've just let it go. I need to get out there and pick some tomatoes and peppers today.

The daylillies wouldn't bloom when it was so hot. I was pleased to see them blooming when I went out this morning.

Looks like the tomatoes turned red when I wasn't looking!

As I sat on my deck this morning, enjoying the best part of the day, and stitching away. I realized why I like my latest project so much ... it was inspired by my garden! The bright cheerful colors and all the flowers which hopefully will find their way onto my quilt.

Spring has finally arrived and I was able to work in the garden for the first time this year! What a treat.
