Crazy Quilt Center Squares

Here are a few close up shots of quilt number two. Some really cool painted motifs can be found on this quilt.

There are hardly any embroidery motifs on this quilt. Seam treatments are the dominate embellishment, but I did spot these butterflies. They really blend in and are about the only motifs on the quilt.

This is one of the few prints found on the quilt. There is a crease across the middle of the piece and I wish they would take it down and try to fix it. If it were mine I'd fix this baby right up! I really like the white seam treatment on the top of this print.

I never know what the end result of my dyeing sessions will be when I'm dyeing motifs especially if I'm not sure about the fiber content. These came out very muted after I rinsed them out. I really like the look and have a few blocks they will work on. I had so much fun playing with these I think I'll try some more this weekend.

Here are a few more of the motifs I dyed this morning ... I think I will move them outside so they can dry faster!

I think the hot weather really took a toll on me this week. I some how picked up a stomach bug and have basically been dragging myself to work each day and home to bed at night. I didn't accomplish much else. I got up this morning feeling better and decided to dye some of the lace I received in my swap with Kate.

I use colorhue dyes and sometimes I think they are too bright. Then I remember they need to be cut with either the black or brown and this tones them down. I'll show you the pictures after these dry. I guess you can tell from the stained plastic plates they have been used a lot!

I started this block in Omaha and set it aside when I got home. I decided to pull it out today and do a little work on it. I'm thinking it may be a good block to make into a purse. Several of the pieces are my hand painted fabrics.

I did a fabric swap with Kate from the Quiltropolis CQ list and in return she sent me some charms for the travel quilt I'm currently collecting 'stash' for. These 2 charms are both great for me because I studied in New York at the Fashion Institute while I was in college and I've always loved to vacation in the tropics! Thanks Kate.

It has been really hot here this week. We broke two records for hot days and I was really glad we finally had a 'cold' front go through yesterday. From 105 - 106 degrees down to 95 degrees! I guess I have to be thankful for little things!

I stopped at a yard sale while out on a walk yesterday and found a few pieces that I liked. The bottom piece can be cut apart so that is what I will do with it. The top doily was a little larger than I wanted but maybe I will find just the spot for it someday.
