I find one of the hardest things in life to do is to find time to do everything I want to do! Recently I decided it was time I got serious about getting in shape and losing a few pounds. I knew I needed to do this but I was always putting it off until tomorrow.

I found a web site recently devoted to those that want to ‘walk’ their way to fitness. It was just the motivation I needed to get started. I only needed to do 10,000 steps a day. HA! I didn’t realize how many steps that was until I bought a pedometer and started stepping. First couple of weeks I found out I was only doing 3000 or so steps a day so I got serious and doubled that after the first week. Now my goal is to hit 10,000 steps at least 3 times a week. It takes an effort and I really have to work at it but I know it can be done. I’m actually enjoying getting out and seeing the neighborhood up close instead of speeding by in a car.

I’m finding I have more energy now that I’m walking and eating better …. I know the books say that is what is suppose to happen but I never really gave it a chance before. So wish me luck as I strive to step my way to fitness! I’ve already done it 3 times this week and that makes me feel good about myself! Anyone want to join me in stepping their way to fitness?

Hi Karen,

count me in! I have just recently started walking again- walked over 3 miles yesterday. It seems our 'hobby' doesn't exactly promote activity, does it?

I'm so glad others are joining in this adventure. Since I sit around alot stitching and reading I find as I get older the pounds just keep on coming.

I look forward to seeing what everyone does and I'll let you guys motivate me when it would be easier to sit in the cool AC instead of stepping out in the hot air!

It is nice knowing there are other CQers who feel the same as me! =) It is so hot outside and the humidity level is sky high here in Korea. While I haven't been walking every day, I have been doing some kind of physical activity. Today, My DH and I played raquetball and I jogged a mile on the treadmill.

I would love to hear of everyone's success

I wish I had time Karen to join you. Right now with my crazy schedule am working in the cool part of the day. And in the afternoons it is in the 100s here.
