The first few pieces set the tone for the block. Sometimes I stop and start several times to get the look I'm after. I've been known to start over if I don't like the first few pieces.

I'm working around the center piece, trying to get some angles and no straight sides. I don't want to have a perfect square after I get around the first time.

I continue the process each time of cutting the pieces with angles. I know there are a lot of different schools of thought on the process of piecing a block. This one seems to work for me and I like the end results.

See how I move on to the next piece - cutting and pressing as I go? After I finish the first round I go onto the second using the same techniques. See the above post to see the second round take place. Remember to press after each piece is added and continue to audition those fabrics all the way up to the last piece!
