While grocery shopping yesterday I couldn't resist a quick trip to the floral department. They had a few beautiful orchids and I decided to add to my small collection. I also joined the American Orchid Society the other day and look forward to getting their magazine. I can see how Orchid collecting can be addicting! Just like stash building!

The thing that amazes me about orchids is how many different varieties there are and that they don't always look like anything from the same family! Did you know that in the 1800s, there were orchid hunters, some unscruplous because the market was so strong, who actually murdered over orchids?
