Today's Derby Festival Event was the Run for the Rose. I'm sure you wonder what in the world that is, so let me tell you.

It is for the waiters and waitesses in town. They gather and run around a race course carrying a tray full of wine in plastic glasses! The one who crosses over the line with the best time and with the most wine wins. It is so funny to watch and it brings out a crowd of about 3000.

It is amazing how such small events over the years have grown into these large events. Tomorrow night starts the really big events. Hopefully the weather will warm up a little more and we can really enjoy the festival. Stay tune for the report on the Great Boat Race.
