August Colors, Colour Blindness Simulator

August colors ... these colors are going to be a challenge to find in my stash! LOL ... I didn't realize how much I would be challenging myself with Sharon's TIF challenge this year. It has been fun to branch out and try different color combination's I've never thought to use before. I'm enjoying the new combination's and look forward to what I can find in my stash to fit this group.

Speaking of colors Sharon posted a link to a site that talks about color blindness. You can use their

Colour Blindness Simulator

tool to import a picture and see what someone would see if they had some form of color blindness. Very interesting reading.

I finally subscribed to The Quilt Show this week (I paid off Christmas!) and watched the first episode of series number two!

Judith Baker Montano was the featured guest and it was great! Alex started off the show with tips on Red Work. I've never tried Red Work but I'm going to now, she made it look so easy.

Judith's section was excellent. It was a great way to meet her and find out about her work. She started her segment with transferring her pictures to silk and then she painted them with water colors. She introduced her new line of fabrics and they sound delicious. The fabric is a blend of silk and cotton. If sounds perfect for the crazy quilter.

She covered two different Silk Ribbon Flowers and then we took a tour of her garden and studio. She showed some of her work and it was great to get to know her better. I have watched the show three times now and picked up more details each time.

I give The Quilt Show two thumbs up!! Check it out if you haven't done so yet.

Check out Bonnie McCaffery's latest Vidcast #19 with this month's guest Linda Schmidt. Learn how to make a waterfall and ocean waves using Angelina fibers and misty fuse.

Bonnie provides these video cast for free and they are a great way to learn new techniques. She provides a tip jar for those who want to help cover the expense of these great video cast.

I added another button cluster and lace fan motif to my wallhanging.

I joined Robin Atkins 2007 Bead Journal Project hoping it would motivate me to finish up a few beading pieces this year. I started the improvisational piece below for my June Page. I'm having fun beading today!

I found this website. It is called The Inside out of Silk Fusion by Karen Selk. Looks interesting and if I get time I may just have to give it a try.

I took some time to update my blog this weekend. Of course all my links disappeared when I did it so I will slowly be rebuilding the links section. I wanted to make sure all the old one's worked any way so this was a good exercise. I also condensed the archives section so it didn't take up as much space.

I still want to add a few more things as time allows and I want to start using the labels for post. I find this really helpful on the blogs that use it. Just have to figure out how it works!
